The Candy to Avoid While Aligning Your Smile With Braces

Candy is a delicious treat that is also very dangerous for your smile, especially if you have braces. When you decide to align your smile, our team at Ortho 360 strongly recommends that you avoid eating candy as much as possible, especially these specific types of candy:

Caramel

Caramel is a dangerous treat for your smile because of how sticky it is. When you eat the caramel, it sticks to your braces and to your teeth. This makes it extremely difficult to clean, which generally results in tooth decay. Caramel can also break your appliance by sticking to the brackets and pulling them off the teeth. This can severely delay your treatment time.

Salt Water Taffy

Salt water taffy is dangerous for the same reasons caramel is dangerous. It can easily stick to your smile, break your brackets, and create tooth decay. So, we strongly recommend that you avoid eating salt water taffy until you get your braces off.

Popcorn

Popcorn is also very harmful for your smile because of the kernels it has. The kernels tend to become lodged into your teeth and braces, causing major discomfort and additional problems. The kernels can also break the brackets and wires if you are not careful. So, please do not eat popcorn, no matter what flavor it is.

If you refrain from eating these treats, your smile and orthodontic appliance will remain in tip-top shape and you will have the oral health you deserve.
